Sleeping with the Girls, Vol II: Chapter 26

FINALLY! After a long, LONG wait this time around, we have yet another installment of the action survival drama with a dash of science fiction, fantasy, and lethal slapstick comedy that is Sleeping with the Girls.

Hey, it's been six months, I know. I've been busy plus I had new stories to dedicate my time to. You readers'll live.


After leaving Doctor Tofu's office, our beaten and chemically unstable hero attempts to fulfill the instructions he's been given by both Washu and the local practitioner of medicine. Of course, nothing stays 'normal' around a character like Ranma for very long, especially in a world that has more plays unto martial arts styles than there are flavors in a Baskin Robins'... Things can get out of hand very fast, like some kind of insane, well choreographed dance number.

You know what they say, it takes two to tango... But in this case, it really takes Three Two Tango.

Mega Update. SWTG, MLP:FIM

Multiple updates in one shot.

First, and foremost... Chapter 25 of SWTG is now up.

After getting a (relatively) good night's sleep, the SI finds himself back in the Nerima Ward, a geographic distance of maybe 20 miles, but with none of the signs of the battle he experienced the previous night. The only thing that could ruin what could be a good morning may well just be his own body, and a bit of a sneaky trick up Cologne's sleeve concerning her grandaughter.

Will the SI have to be admitted to a hospital? Or can he survive and maintaim some semblance of Out Patience ?

After delivering a fight-ending shot to Kunzite, it seems like the battle is over. But it just seemed all too easy. It's been the SI's experience that it's never quite that simple. And once again, being right is a bad thing. Lo and behold, the final Shadow appears.
Can the Senshi fend off the Superbeast with the SI's help?

There isn't much to say, except that a battle is not as simple as one might think.

Sleeping with the Girls: Volume II, Chapter Twenty-One

Man this one's out late. But I've been busy trying to juggle this, school, minecraft, and my new Kitteh 'Citrus'. (My Dog passed away. The next day, someone had abandoned a box of kittens at work. I call that 'uncanny' timing. So I kept one of the kittens.)

Mind you, when a writer says they've been 'busy'. It's probably 'not so busy they have no time for writing. But more of a 'so busy that the long periods needed to just sit and think' aren't available, so ideas don't really form clearly... Slowing everything down.

Anyway.

'After the hijinks with the Senshi in the previous chapter, it's time to get serious as the SI adopts Luna's plan. A plan that is so good, it's doomed to failure from the start. All that can be hoped for is to get everything set up so when the enemy shows up, all they have to do is Kill the Middle.

Will they succede?

Sleeping With the Girls: Vol II, Chapter Twenty

The SI has an 'Enigmagnetic' Personality of sorts. You don't know quite how it works, but you know it works well. The ability to be agreeable even around people who can be downright caustic has its advantages. Even when meeting some of the other Senshi for the first time, you wonder how sometimes rough first impressions can be ignored. Perhaps its the no-nonsense attitude? But then, the way he can be so laid back. Maybe he just knows how to behave from experience.

Who knows, but the Senshi need to be brought up to speed, and being up to speed is all about information. And lots of it. Sometimes that information may prove to be a little crazy. But the SI hasn't gotten this far on sanity alone.

Sleeping with the Girls: Vol II, Chapter Nineteen

With Kunzite run off for the time being, it's time to take care of some rather mundane business. (With Luna's help of course.) A little gold makes for a lot of money, and a lot of money makes for excelent shopping. And shopping with a pragmatic catgirl can be an... Interesting experience. But in the midst of the SI's shopping spree, he realizes that when you pull something off by the skin of your teeth, you may just put your foot in your mouth. With all the stuff he knows, it only adds to the stress. Don't be surprised if he turns into a Basket Case.

Author's Note: The sheer amount of Google Earth, Google Maps, Wikipedia, and private corporate website research that went into this chapter should make the names and locations discussed her as accurate as physically possible without some kind of Wayback machine to do time travel. If ever you were a Geography geek, consider this a snapshot of a real city, as close as this author can get to going there.

Sleeping with the Girls: Vol II, Chapter Eighteen.

In World War II, there was a counter intelligence operation thrown at the Axis powers that involved the most absurd stunt pulled by a legitimate power since the historical use of the Trojan Horse. A lot of people reading it might think the move was insane. But it should be noted that the operation was a complete success.

Thus 'Operation Mincemeat' went down in history.

Back in the world of the story, the SI suspects that Hino knows a little more than he lets on about. But how much Hino really knows may just blow your mind. A constant reminder to the SI that even most idiotic seeming people can be rather smart when left to their own devices.

Perhaps these lessons could be applied liberally.

Sleeping With the Girls: Vol II, Chapter Seventeen

Finally out of Those Who Hunt Elves, and their Crazy World, the SI is awoken by the last thing you could have expected, himself. Trying to maintain 100% when you're running on sketchy amounts of sleep at best, while crossing worlds can not be the easiest task ever thought up. The usual day to day problems don't just go away. It just comes back at the least oportune moment. Like when you're trying to negotiate not being eviscerated by an old man because he found you with his Granddaughter...

So I ask you: How do you deal with Kitsamut's Revenge?

Sleeping With the Girls: Vol II, Chapter Fifteen

Sometimes we take things and we find we don't want them. Sometimes we throw them away; sometimes we give them back.

While having what feels like a phone conversation with Ayeka, the SI discovers that sometimes what is taken is more than should have ever been, but it cannot be given back. Dignity, respect, modesty. These things are not possessions that can be traded on a whim. As such, life has a strict No-Return Policy.

Life's not fair.

Sleeping With the Girls Vol II: Chapter Fourteen

The mashed up world of Those Who Hunt Elves is one huge Cross-World Puzzle to the SI. After showing of a little basic economics to a group who seemed to have missed it on the first pass, he decides to break for lunch in town. A little intuitiveness allows him to pick up a little intel that might prove useful later. Not only that, but Senbei's got more uses than you'd imagine. You have to wonder what the pint sized demon god does on his down time.

Sleeping with the Girls: Vol II, Chapter Thirteen

I cannot apologize for a chapter delay when the delay is to make sure that what I write comes out decent, if not coherent. Either way, three weeks, and its out.

While following the instructions given to him by Washu, the SI calmly reflects on the revelation Junpei left him with last chapter. Or at least, tries to between interruptions from Ritsuko. However in order to help Those Who Hunt Elves out a little bit, the SI applies his acute knowledge of their party in an almost facepalmingly obvious manner. Perhaps its All Part of the Plan, perhaps not. Maybe it's just payment while Junpei teaches those pressent How To Throw A Punch.

Waking up in the world of Those Who Hunt Elves, the Insert has confirmed that he's in some kind of strange loop through the worlds. After being chewed out for his injury recieved in the previous world, the SI is left to discuss why Luna's got such a large apetite, only for local world blockhead and all around fighter to come to a shocking conclusion about the SI's condition.

Maybe the Insert could have avoided injury, and learned some things a lot sooner, if only had stopped to Read The Fucking Manual.

Sleeping with the Girls: Volume II, Chapter Eleven

I apologize for tardiness on this particular chapter. I kept wanting to get it out sooner rather than later, but ended up procrastinating and getting distracted and all that fun stuff.

Anyway, as this latest chapter goes to show. Even after everything's done, there's still work to be done. You have to eat, you have to sleep, take a bath... Whatever.

The SI realizes that in doing things the normal way, he's been inadvertantly subjecting himself to the very conventions of gag-based comedy. In order to work his way around this issue and get around Naru, he enlists the aid of local Hinata straight-man (woman) character, Haruka. Then developes a plan that, rather than fight against the comedy, use it for his own means.

You know what they say: If it ain't broke... Don't fix it.

Sleeping with the Girls: Vol II, Chapter Nine

After the fiasco the SI was caught in last chapter thanks to good ol' fashioned comedy trope in effect, our hero finds himself inadvertently befriended by Hinata's most clever resident. A situation that can only be emphasized by the fact that her nickname describes her Like a Fox. And the SI soon concocts a plan to take advantage of her nature, in exchange for some quid-pro-quo of course. But as he soon discovers, just having the fox on your side is not enough. You need to be one yourself.
